Southern Stone's Transformation: Brandon Hinderer's Vision in Bloomington

The Southern Stone story begins with a different name entirely. Originally known as Sweet Grass, it opened as a low-country southern restaurant on the south side of Bloomington, Indiana. Over time, Sweet Grass was sold and transformed into Southern Stone, taking on a whole new identity under the new ownership of Brandon Hinderer in 2024.

Brandon’s journey started as a kid growing up in the restaurant industry in Florida. With a lifelong passion for food, spanning from pizza to fine dining, Brandon eventually made his way to Bloomington with his family. The town felt like home, so when the opportunity arose to purchase Southern Stone, it was an easy decision. Brandon's love for food, particularly the flavors of the Florida coast, drives his vision. Southern Stone now offers a truly authentic experience, focusing on seafood and steak, bringing a taste of the coast to Bloomington.

At Southern Stone, our team is like family, dedicated to making your dining experience unforgettable. We believe in the warmth of Southern hospitality and the importance of gathering around the table with loved ones. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing our passion for great food. See you around the table!
